The last commit is related to #53 . The way the Params API is implemented in Java is quite different and I'm not sure it follows the Perl one, but it would require quite some work to make the changes. So in the end I'm only adding an a NullParamException in paramRequired.

PS: All Travis builds are failing because DBD::mysql can no longer be installed. It's not eHive-specific and affects ensembl-compara too
